Here’s What You Missed at the 2026 Emmys

If you missed the 2026 Emmys Awards, you definitely have some catching up to do. The 78th edition of television’s biggest night brought together some of Hollywood’s biggest names for an evening filled with major wins, historic achievements and emotional moments.

Held at the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles, the ceremony saw Widow’s Bay emerge as one of the biggest winners of the night. The Apple TV+ series took home Outstanding Comedy Series, while several members of its cast also picked up acting awards.

Matthew Rhys had one of the most remarkable nights of the ceremony. The actor won Lead Actor in a Comedy Series for Widow’s Bay and Lead Actor in a Limited or Anthology Series or Movie for The Beast in Me. The double victory made him the first actor to win two lead acting Emmys in the same year.

Over in the drama categories, HBO Max’s The Pitt continued its impressive run. The medical drama won Outstanding Drama Series for the second consecutive year, while Noah Wyle again took home the award for Lead Actor in a Drama Series.

Veteran actress Jean Smart also added another major achievement to her already decorated career. She won Lead Actress in a Comedy Series for Hacks, bringing her total number of acting Emmy wins to eight.

Another veteran star, Sally Field, made history of her own. The 79-year-old actress won Lead Actress in a Limited or Anthology Series or Movie for Remarkably Bright Creatures, becoming the oldest winner in the category.

The night also had its share of emotional moments as the ceremony remembered entertainment figures who died during the past year. The In Memoriam segment featured tributes to several beloved stars, including country music icon Dolly Parton.

Meanwhile, The Traitors continued its dominance in reality television, winning Outstanding Reality Competition Program for the third consecutive year.

There was also a notable moment for Stephen Colbert. The Late Show with Stephen Colbert won Outstanding Variety Series for the second year in a row, despite CBS announcing the show’s ending earlier this year.

Hosted by Law & Order: SVU star Mariska Hargitay, the 2026 Emmys ultimately delivered what viewers have come to expect from the annual ceremony: famous faces, unexpected victories, history-making wins and enough Hollywood moments to keep people talking long after the final award was handed out.
