Dr. Fola David, a Nigerian doctor and artist, is preparing to set a new world record for his ambitious project “Unity in Diversity.” David intends to produce the largest drawing by an individual, covering an area of more than 850 square meters. This historic drawing will take held at Onikan Stadium in Lagos and will last six days, beginning July 16.
The massive artwork, titled “Unity in Diversity,” would include a detailed map of Nigeria highlighting the country’s rich cultural diversity. Each tribe will be represented by its distinct clothes, languages, art, and essence, expressing the spirit of Nigeria’s diverse traditions.
In preparation for this record-breaking endeavor, David will reveal “The Road to Record,” a trip that will both inspire and lay the groundwork for the final artwork. This step is a cultural journey around Nigerian states to document the various cultures that will be reflected in the artwork. This voyage will be chronicled in a documentary called “The Road to Record”.
The “Unity in Diversity” initiative is a collaboration with Tolaram Group and features three separate phases: the Road to Record, the World Record Attempt, and the RepYourTribe Carnival. The RepYourTribe Carnival will celebrate Nigeria’s cultural variety by urging Nigerians to share their roots on social media using the hashtag #repyourtribe. The carnival will take place on the stadium grounds, accompanying the production of a world record drawing, resulting in a brilliant celebration of Nigeria’s cultural tapestry.
Dr. David, noted for his fast painting, hopes to combine the stories and experiences of Nigerians who coexist despite their varied cultures and traditions. He feels the project would highlight the togetherness and harmony that exists among Nigeria’s varied communities.

The “Unity in Diversity” project is supported by prestigious partners such as the Federal Ministry of Arts, Culture, and Creative Economy, the Nigerian Tourism Development Agency, the Lagos State Ministry of Youth and Social Development, the National Gallery of Art, the Lagos State Government, and the National Troupe of Nigeria. They hope to make a lasting impact by showcasing Nigeria’s cultural diversity and fostering unity.
