Taking a look at multiple operations, the Nigerian Army made significant advances in the fight against terrorism and kidnapping in the North West in their best strength. It was known on Thursday that the Army announced it had successfully dismantled a dangerous gun-running syndicate that supplied weapons to regional terrorist groups.
The Army made this a post on its official X handle, noting that troops also apprehended a notorious kidnapping ring and recovered a large cache of weapons and ammunition from the suspects. The raid is part of a larger effort to de-escalate the violent situation in this region.
In another dramatic raid, the army arrested a key member of a kidnap syndicate linked to the murder of Alhaji Mairuga Abubakar, the chairman of Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association in Orelope Local Government Area of Oyo State.
The troops, in collaboration with other security agencies, arrested a notorious arms smuggler, Mallam Yau Ibrahim, in Babinga Kudaru village, Kaduna State. The troops had earlier arrested another member of the syndicate in Jos, Plateau State, as part of Operation Safe Haven.
The seized weapons arsenal included an AK-47 rifle, a magazine, 1,641 rounds of 7.62 mm ammunition (special) and 49 rounds of 7.62 mm ammunition (NATO).
The Army’s success continued in Katsina State where the troops ambushed and neutralized a terrorist in Anguwa Boka, Faskari Local Government Area and recovered another AK-47 rifle, ammunition and other items.
In a separate operation, the Army tracked down and arrested a 25-year-old suspect, Abubakar Shehu, in Ijebu-Ode, Ogun State.
These operations underscore the army’s continued commitment to restoring peace and security across Nigeria, with more raids expected in the coming days
