U.S. President-elect Donald Trump has proposed that Canada integrate with the United States, just hours after Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau stepped down from office.
Since his victory in November, Trump has repeatedly referred to Canada as “America’s 51st state” and warned of imposing a 25% tariff on Canadian goods if tougher measures aren’t taken to curb drug trafficking and illegal immigration.
Trudeau’s resignation came amid declining support within his party and plummeting public approval ratings, raising doubts about his chances of securing re-election.
