Dangote Peugeot Automobile Nigeria (DPAN) has enhanced its production capacity to 44,000 vehicles annually. This milestone is attributed to the integration of advanced technology in its assembly processes, enabling the plant to produce up to 120 vehicles daily.
The Kaduna-based facility assembles popular Peugeot models, including the Landtrek pickup, 3008, 5008, and 508 GT. By producing these vehicles locally, DPAN aims to reduce Nigeria’s reliance on imported cars, offering high-quality and competitively priced options to consumers.
At the recent 46th Kaduna International Trade Fair, Fatima Wali Abdurrahman, Senior Advisor to the President of Dangote Group, highlighted the company’s commitment to digitization across its operations. She noted that the adoption of smart and automated systems has revolutionized processes, particularly in the cement sector, and is now being effectively applied in automobile manufacturing.
The company’s digital transformation extends beyond manufacturing. The introduction of the DMS Application, a digital ordering platform available on Android and iOS, has enhanced customer experience by allowing registered clients in the cement, sugar, and salt sectors to access products seamlessly.
DPAN’s efforts align with Nigeria’s broader goal of boosting local vehicle production to foster industrial growth and reduce dependence on imports. The company’s expansion into the commercial vehicle sector, through the launch of the Dangote Sinotruk West Africa Ltd (DSWAL) CKD plant in Lagos, further underscores its commitment. This facility assembles medium, heavy-duty, and light trucks, with an annual production capacity of 10,000 units, creating approximately 3,000 jobs.
The Nigerian government has lauded Dangote Industries for its contributions to national development. During the trade fair, representatives acknowledged the group’s commitment to innovation and industrialization as pivotal to the country’s economic growth.
