Elon Musk’s social media platform X, formerly known as Twitter, experienced multiple outages on Monday, leaving thousands of users unable to access the app or website. The first outage occurred around 10 a.m. EDT, with over 21,000 users in the U.S. and 10,800 in the U.K. reporting issues on DownDetector. Service was restored after approximately 45 minutes.
Later in the day, X went down again at 6:45 a.m. PT, with over 8,000 reported incidents. Although the platform briefly returned, another outage followed shortly after, adding to user frustrations. Musk has not yet commented on the disruptions.
The last major outage on X happened in August 2024, affecting 66% of users who reported problems with the app, website, and server connections. Other significant technical failures include the July 2023 impairment of key platform features and the March 2024 crash of Ron DeSantis’ Twitter Spaces live event during his U.S. presidential campaign announcement.
As users continue to face intermittent service interruptions, questions arise about X’s platform stability under Musk’s ownership. Despite ongoing technical issues, the company has yet to provide an official statement addressing the cause of these latest disruptions.
