Facebook is introducing a new way for creators to earn money from public stories. This is expanding its monetization options beyond traditional posts and reels. This feature is now available globally to creators enrolled in the Facebook Content Monetization program.
With this update, creators can monetize the content they already share, such as snippets of recipe videos, reels, or daily life updates. Unlike other monetization methods, there’s no minimum view threshold—earnings are based solely on engagement and performance.
Meta’s move aims to attract more content creators, especially as it competes with platforms like TikTok. Over the past year, Meta has been offering cash incentives, content deals, and creator support to encourage more video production on Facebook and Instagram.
Creators already enrolled in the monetization program don’t need to take additional steps to enable earnings from stories. Facebook initially tested this feature with select beta participants, but it’s now rolling out to all eligible users.
The expansion follows a strong year for creator earnings. In 2024, Facebook paid out over $2 billion to creators, with Reels and short video earnings growing by 80%. Meta has also paid over 4 million creators since introducing monetization in 2017.
For those not yet in the program, Facebook plans to open enrollment later this year, but interested creators can request an invite through its website.
