The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has reopened its portal for the upload of 2025 West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) results. The reactivation, announced on JAMB’s official X account on Tuesday, August 20, allows all Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) candidates to complete the mandatory process.
“Dear UTME candidates, this is to notify you that the upload of the 2025 WAEC result has been reactivated. Kindly visit any of our accredited facilities near you to access the service,” the board stated.
Uploading O’level results is compulsory for admission into Nigerian tertiary institutions. Without it, even high-scoring UTME candidates risk being excluded from admission lists. JAMB stressed that candidates should only use accredited CBT centres to avoid errors and fraud.
On August 14, JAMB suspended the upload portal to resolve technical issues after the West African Examinations Council (WAEC) revised its initial release of the 2025 WASSCE results.
The revision was necessary after WAEC discovered a grading error that drastically lowered pass rates. The initial release showed only 38.32% of candidates earned five credits, including English and Mathematics. After correction, the figure rose to 62.96%. The error was traced to a faulty code file affecting subjects like Mathematics, English, Biology, and Economics.
In the corrected results, 1,239,884 candidates secured five credits including English and Mathematics, while about 191,053 results remain withheld over malpractice allegations.
The JAMB suspension was part of wider system downtimes across Nigeria’s examination bodies in 2025. WAEC and NECO both experienced disruptions, delaying registrations and result verification. NECO also shut its services nationwide for scheduled maintenance after repeated failures.
For now, candidates applying for the 2024/2025 admission cycle can proceed with their uploads, ensuring their eligibility is not affected.
