Hilda Baci, the culinary queen of Nigeria, is creating yet another culinary extravaganza, and this time, Jollof rice is the main ingredient! The world-famous chef, who broke the Guinness World Record for the longest cooking marathon, has revealed plans to make the biggest pot of Jollof rice in history in Lagos.
The Gino World Jollof Festival is set for September 12, 2025, at Victoria Island’s Muri Okunola Park. And have faith that Hilda will succeed—literally. According to her, the specially constructed pot is six meters wide and six meters tall, and it can hold enough Jollof to feed thousands of people.
However, it goes beyond rice and stew. According to Hilda, the occasion is a full-fledged cultural celebration where Nigerian cuisine, music, and camaraderie are highlighted. Jollof is more than just a meal—it’s an identity—and guests can anticipate live performances, an abundance of food, and that distinctive West African energy.
The finest aspect? The festival is completely free to enter. The festival, which is supported by the culinary brand Gino, is expected to attract foodies, fans, and even interested tourists who wish to see history being made.
To give fans a preview of what’s to come, Hilda has already tested the enormous pot. If her previous record-breaking attempt is any indication, Lagos is set to experience yet another momentous occasion.
So mark your calendars because on September 12, the world will be watching as Nigeria’s Jollof takes the spotlight like never before.
