Air Peace has announced the immediate cancellation of all its flights, citing safety concerns and the unavailability of critical meteorological services due to an ongoing strike by the Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet).
The NiMet strike, initiated over unresolved welfare issues, has led to the suspension of essential weather forecasting services, which are vital for flight planning and safety. Air Peace emphasized that operating without accurate meteorological data compromises passenger safety, prompting the decision to ground all flights.
Additionally, the airline has faced recent challenges, including multiple bird strike incidents and technical issues. In 2023 alone, Air Peace reported 18 bird strike incidents, resulting in significant financial losses and operational disruptions. Such incidents underscore the airline’s commitment to prioritizing safety over operational convenience.
Passengers are advised to stay updated through official Air Peace communication channels and to exercise patience during this period. The airline has expressed regret for the inconvenience caused and assures customers of its dedication to resuming safe operations as soon as possible.
