Lagos State High Court Justice Ibironke Harrison has issued a bench warrant for the arrest of the acting Managing Director of Access Bank, Mrs. Bolaji Agbede, and three others over allegations of conspiracy, property theft, and fraud. The other defendants include Balmoral International Limited, DDSS International Company Limited, and Adejare Adegbenro.
The arrest order followed their failure to appear in court for arraignment on a four-count charge filed by the Lagos State Directorate of Public Prosecutions. The charges include conspiracy to commit a felony, stealing, and attempted theft.
The case involves a property located at Plot 40b, Bourdillon Road, Ikoyi, Lagos, reportedly owned by MOB Integrated Services, a company linked to Gbolahan Obanikoro, the son of former Minister of State for Defence, Senator Musiliu Obanikoro. According to the prosecution, the defendants used the property as collateral to secure a ₦1 billion loan in 2013 without the consent of the owners.
They are also accused of attempting to steal the same property in May 2019 by offering it as security for another loan to DDSS International Company Limited.
The Directorate of Public Prosecutions stated that the alleged actions violated Sections 411, 280, and 21 of the Lagos State Criminal Law, 2015. Justice Harrison has adjourned the case until February 24, 2025, for the arraignment of the defendants.
As of now, Access Bank and the other parties involved have not issued any public statements regarding the allegations or the court order.
