Zenith Bank customers are struggling to access their accounts nearly 24 hours after a scheduled IT maintenance announcement. Despite the bank’s assurance that services would resume by 2:30 PM on October 1, 2024, users remain unable to log into the app or conduct transactions as of 8:00 AM on October 2.
Many customers report that the downtime began Monday, marking three days without access to their funds.
In a social media message, Zenith Bank had stated, “We are conducting routine maintenance to enhance our IT infrastructure, with services unavailable from 12:01 AM to 2:30 PM WAT on October 1.” The bank requested patience and promised minimal disruptions.
However, some reports indicate that the bank may be undertaking a major migration of its core banking system from the Phoenix software to Oracle’s Flexcube, a significant process that involves extensive data transfer and is more complex than standard maintenance.
