The Federal Executive Council (FEC) has greenlighted a substantial N158 billion project aimed at developing service lanes that will link the Lekki Deep Sea Port to the Shagamu-Benin Expressway via Epe.
This initiative will be executed by Dangote Industries and is part of the Federal Government’s Road Infrastructure Development Fund and Refurbishment Investment Tax Credit Scheme.
During a recent meeting led by President Bola Tinubu in Abuja, the council reached this decision, which was shared via a statement from Bayo Onanuga, the Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy.
The approved project is expected to alleviate traffic congestion in Lagos, especially given the industrial growth within the Lekki Free Trade Zone. Once underway, the construction of these service lanes will enhance the flow of goods and improve connectivity to surrounding regions, ultimately relieving pressure on Lagos’ existing road systems.
