The Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria (IPMAN) has successfully negotiated a direct supply agreement with Dangote Refinery, a development poised to enhance fuel distribution across the country. This new partnership promises a steady and cost-effective flow of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS), Automotive Gas Oil (AGO), and Dual Purpose Kerosene (DPK) to IPMAN’s depots and retail outlets.
In a statement made in Abuja on Monday, IPMAN National President Abubakar Garima hailed the agreement as a significant milestone, one that will benefit consumers nationwide with more affordable fuel prices and reliable supply chains. Garima shared that the agreement was reached following constructive discussions with Aliko Dangote and his management team in Lagos.
“The direct supply arrangement with Dangote Refinery ensures that we can meet the growing fuel demands of our members while keeping costs under control. The benefits of this partnership extend beyond just supply—it also supports Nigeria’s efforts to boost its foreign exchange market and reduce dependence on imported refined products,” Garima explained.
This new collaboration promises far-reaching benefits for Nigeria’s fuel sector, most notably improving local production capacity and reducing logistical challenges. The move also strengthens Nigeria’s energy security by reducing reliance on imported refined products, which has long been a vulnerability for the country.

Additionally, Garima emphasized the positive effects of backward integration, which will not only support the domestic economy but also bolster the nation’s foreign exchange reserves by minimizing the outflow associated with crude oil imports.
