The last time you cheated on your barber, was when?
More than 75% of men have a strong feeling of attachment to their barbers, according to a recent survey, and 28% of them say they would never go elsewhere. The same level of steadfast devotion to their hairdressers was only reported by 15% of women.
According to experts, it all comes down to familiarity, regularity, and trust. Most guys don’t see the need to take a chance with someone new once a barber has mastered the art of shaving, whether it’s the precise fade or the slight tweak you enjoy. The connection formed in that barber’s chair can really survive longer than friendships, careers, and yes, even romantic partnerships.
It goes even further: according to a different study, almost 13% of adults would feel worse about changing barbers than leaving their partner. Roughly 7% acknowledged that the guilt would be the same!
Haircutting isn’t the only thing barbers do. Many men view them as therapists, valued confidants, and even part-time life counselors. A cozy routine is established by frequenting the same barber, where advise, decent grooming, and small talk all come together.
The next time you’re wondering why your partner would travel across town to sit in a specific chair, keep in mind that it’s more than just a haircut. Years of trust have been carefully ensnared.
