During a routine training mission on Tuesday afternoon, October 15, 2024, a U.S. Navy EA-18G Growler aircraft tragically crashed east of Mount Rainier in Washington state. Around 3:20 PM local time, the aircraft, which was flying out of Naval Air Station Whidbey Island, lost touch.
There has been a massive hunt for the two crew members who are still missing. Rescue crews and a Navy MH-60S helicopter are searching the region for any indications of the missing crew members. They haven’t issued any status updates as of yet.
The EA-18G Growler is a specialist electronic warfare aircraft designed to interfere with enemy radar systems and communications. Due to its ability to disable enemy defenses during combat missions, it is essential to military operations.
