If this year’s Met Gala taught us anything, it’s that Nigeria is actually taking over international fashion events rather than just going to them! Naija was all over the 2025 Met Gala, from stunning celebrity appearances to iconic fashion pieces created by Nigerian designers.
Wearing an eye-catching shirtdress by Ozwald Boateng, Tems strutted the red carpet in the style of African royalty. Deep colors and eye-catching accessories were used to honor Black dandyism.

Following suit, literally, Ayra Starr wore a sleek, well-tailored, and gorgeous Boateng ensemble.

Known for her writing and sense of style, Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie was on the official host committee. Her appearance served as a powerful reminder that Nigeria has an intellectual and fashionable influence in addition to its traditional one.

Not only did our celebrities flaunt themselves, but our designers also had a moment. The Nigerian-American designer Ugo Mozie created Diana Ross‘s unique gown, which had an 18-foot train embroidered with her family’s names.


Orange Culture’s vibrant red outfit turned eyeballs on Brian Tyree Henry, a budding Hollywood star, demonstrating the boldness, freshness, and unabashed creativity of Nigerian fashion.

Nigeria did more than simply attend the 2025 Met Gala; we demonstrated to the world how it’s done, from the red carpet to the dance floor, and from the runways to the headlines. There is no doubt about it: Nigeria is not a new fashion or cultural trend; we have already arrived.
