NOVA Bank has officially commenced operations as a National Commercial Bank with the opening of its first commercial banking branch in Victoria Island, Lagos. Formerly known as NOVA Merchant Bank, the institution received final approval for its license from the Central Bank of Nigeria.
In a statement on Wednesday, July 23, 2024, Phillips Oduoza, Chairman and founder of NOVA Bank, emphasized the institution’s steadfast commitment to customer-centricity and delivering exceptional service.
Oduoza introduced NOVA’s innovative ‘PHYGITAL’ model, describing it as a trademark of the bank. He stated, “We are pleased to build upon our legacy of excellence as a merchant bank and expand our services to the retail market. Our PHYGITAL experience integrates strategically located physical branches with cutting-edge digital banking capabilities to offer personalized, in-person service alongside efficient digital solutions.”

Established in 2018, NOVA Bank plans to open additional branches in Lagos, Abuja, Port Harcourt, and Kano.
