President Bola Tinubu has announced new directives limiting the number of vehicles and security personnel for Federal Government officials.
Effective immediately, Ministers, Ministers of State, and Heads of Agencies are now restricted to a maximum of three vehicles in their official convoys, with no additional vehicles permitted for their movements. This cost-saving measure was detailed in a statement released by the President’s special adviser on information and strategy, In person of Bayo Onanuga.
Earlier this year, President Tinubu initiated significant cuts to government spending by limiting his own foreign trip entourage from 50 to 20 members, while also reducing the Vice President’s delegation to five for international travels and 15 for domestic trips.

Additionally, the President’s latest directive stipulates that all ministers and agency heads may have no more than five security personnel, comprising four police officers and one officer from the Department of State Services (DSS). The order prohibits any additional security personnel beyond this allocation.
To further these objectives, President Tinubu has tasked the National Security Adviser with consulting the Military, Paramilitary, and other Security Agencies to explore further reductions in vehicle and personnel deployments.
All officials affected by these measures are expected to comply immediately, reflecting the President’s commitment to fiscal responsibility and efficient governance.
