In a landmark move, President Bola Tinubu today signed the N70,000 minimum wage bill into law, marking a significant victory for Nigerian workers.
The new law aims to improve the standard of living for millions of Nigerians, who have been struggling to make ends meet amidst rising inflation and economic uncertainty.
The signing ceremony took place at the Presidential Villa in Abuja, with President Tinubu flanked by labour leaders, government officials, and other stakeholders.
The N70,000 minimum wage bill was passed by the National Assembly last month, after months of negotiations between labor unions, government officials, and private sector stakeholders.
The new law replaces the previous wage of N30,000, which was signed into law in 2019.
