The ambitious plan by Saudi Arabia to construct a $500 billion ski resort in the unlikely location of the Neom desert mountains is generating a lot of media attention. Offering a distinctive experience that combines luxury, adventure, and sustainability, Trojena is a futuristic retreat that is poised to transform Middle Eastern travel.
Trojena will have more than 30 kilometers of ski slopes that are open for use three months out of the year. The resort will use artificial snow produced by water recovery and sustainable energy systems to make this feasible. Skiing isn’t the main draw, though. In addition to luxury lodging with stunning views, visitors may engage in water sports on a man-made lake and mountain bike on picturesque pathways.
Trojena is unique since it aims to be a year-round vacation spot. There is something to do all year round, from hiking and mountain biking in the summer to skiing in the winter. In addition, the resort will have upscale dining options, shops, and even a live entertainment venue set within a mountaintop amphitheater.
As part of Saudi Arabia’s ambitious Neom initiative, Trojena aims to transform the country’s tourism industry and strengthen its economy. The city of Neom itself is a vast futuristic metropolis that consists of Sinalah, a luxury island, Oxagon, a floating industrial center, and The Line, a linear metropolis built to house millions.
Trojena has already created history by winning the bid to host the 2029 Asian Winter Games, and it is expected to open by 2026. Trojena is poised to emerge as one of the world’s most talked-about tourism destinations as Saudi Arabia keeps pushing the envelope.
Saudi Arabia is demonstrating that even deserts can be turned into wintry paradises with this massive undertaking.
