Kano is on edge as security forces have allegedly barricaded the palace of the Emir of Kano, Muhammadu Sanusi II, preventing him from attending a significant royal ceremony in Bichi Local Government Area.
The ceremony, which was set to include the presentation of a staff of office to a newly appointed District Head of Bichi, faced unexpected disruptions.
Eyewitnesses report that heavily armed security operatives, including armored personnel carriers (APCs), blocked the palace gates, halting all movement in and out.
“The Emir was ready to leave for the ceremony when security operatives arrived and instructed him to stay indoors. He has been making calls to understand the situation,” disclosed a palace insider who requested anonymity.
Attempts by Kano State Governor Abba Yusuf to mediate were also obstructed, as his team was allegedly denied access to the palace.
