9mobile has a new name. It’s now T2.
The change is more than a fresh logo. CEO Obafemi Banigbe says it marks a full reset for the company.
“We are no longer who we were,” he told the crowd at the Lagos launch. “We are becoming something greater. More ambitious. More in tune with the future.”
T2 wants to be fully digital. It plans to use cloud tools, artificial intelligence, and smart data to give customers faster, more personal service.
The focus is on Nigeria’s new wave of startups, creatives, and remote workers. People who expect quick service and solid networks.
Banigbe admitted the past was tough. Debt. Competition. Setbacks. But he called those struggles “reminders, not defeats.”
The company’s rebrand comes after signing a three-year roaming deal with MTN Nigeria. That agreement lets T2 customers use MTN’s wide network across the country, improving service in rural and hard-to-reach places.
From Etisalat to 9mobile to T2, the brand has been through big changes. This one, Banigbe says, is about the future.
