Research reveals the average age individuals in the UK first encounter explicit content is just 13 years old. In response, new age-verification measures are set to become mandatory for pornographic websites and social media platforms under guidelines issued by Ofcom.
The age-checking techniques, which will include options such as photo identification and credit card checks, aim to restrict underage access to explicit material. Platforms must ensure compliance with these measures by July 2025.
