The Ikeja Electric Distribution Company (IKEDC) and the Nigerian Air Force have reached a mutual understanding following a violent dispute on Thursday that left ten IKEDC staff members injured.
The conflict erupted over an outstanding electricity debt of over ₦4 billion, which the Air Force has yet to settle. According to IKEDC Chairman Kola Adesina, the lack of commitment to clearing the debt led to tensions, culminating in an altercation that he described as “unfortunate and needless.”
Speaking on the matter, Air Vice Marshal Kola Ademuwagun, the Air Officer Commanding (AOC) in Lagos, acknowledged that the Air Force had been without electricity for several weeks. He condemned the violence and assured that a thorough investigation would be conducted, with appropriate sanctions for any personnel involved in the attack.
Despite the incident, both parties have pledged to improve communication and work toward a resolution, ensuring that such disputes do not escalate in the future.
