After a protracted legal struggle, Cardi B and blogger Tasha K have finally struck a deal. As part of a Chapter 11 bankruptcy reorganization plan, Tasha K, whose real name is Latasha Kebe, has committed to paying Cardi B over $1.2 million over five years. This arrangement follows Tasha K’s 2022 defamation lawsuit loss, in which the court ordered her to reimburse Cardi B almost $4 million for making defamatory and disparaging remarks about the musician.
Tasha K will pay $176,532 in the first year of the new arrangement, and by the fifth year, the sum will have risen to $318,653. Cardi B has the right to pursue the remaining amount even though the settlement is less than the initial judgment once the fives years are up.
Additionally, as part of the settlement, Tasha K is prohibited from using any platform, including her well-known YouTube channel and social media profiles, to make any “derogatory, disparaging, or defamatory” comments about Cardi B or her family. This limitation is intended to shield Cardi B’s reputation from additional damage.
Cardi B filed a defamation lawsuit against Tasha K in 2019 after the blogger published untrue statements about her character, personal life, and health. This marked the start of the legal drama. The court decided in Cardi B’s favor because she claimed that the accusations caused her a great deal of emotional distress.
