Food lovers and record fans are buzzing after Guinness World Records (GWR) officially announced a brand-new and surprisingly delicate achievement: the world’s thinnest sandwich sliced entirely by hand. Yes, you read that right. A hand-sliced sandwich so thin, it measures just 5.12 millimetres.
The record was set by popular chef and content creator Wallace Wong, also known online as the “Six Pack Chef.” Famous for his precision knife skills and food challenges, Wong pushed the limits of patience, technique, and sharp blades to create a sandwich that looks almost unreal.
According to GWR, the rules for this record were strict. The sandwich had to include at least two ingredients besides the bread, it had to be assembled properly, and every slice had to be done by hand. No machines, no slicers, no shortcuts. The final result? A neatly layered, ultra-thin creation that still somehow qualifies as a proper sandwich.
Wong described the feat as a blend of art and discipline. He reportedly practiced cutting vegetables paper-thin for weeks before attempting the official challenge. “Just because it’s thin doesn’t mean it can’t be tasty,” he joked in his GWR interview, adding that the sandwich was surprisingly flavourful despite its size.
Social media users are stunned, with many calling it “the most unnecessary but impressive thing ever.” Others say the record proves that creativity in the kitchen has no limits.
This quirky achievement joins a long list of food-related world records, from the longest noodles to the biggest pizza but this one stands out for its precision and craftsmanship. One thing is clear: when it comes to breaking records, people will always find new, weird, and wonderful ways to keep the world entertained.
And thanks to Wong, even a simple sandwich now has its place in global history.
