Last night, the Headies Awards returned to Lagos in style, and it was everything and more that fans could have imagined. The 17th edition, with the theme “Back to Base,” was hosted by the always Nancy Isime at the Eko Convention Centre. It honored Africa’s top musicians in a night full of passion, emotion, and standout performances.
Emerging talent Odumodublvck took center stage after winning the coveted Next Rated award, indicating that he is bound for even greater success.
Rema’s HEIS, meanwhile, won Album of the Year, confirming his stardom.
Additionally, the honoring of late Mohbad made for an emotional evening. With a heartfelt tribute performance that left the entire room in awe, he won the Best Street-Hop Artiste award for his street hymn “Ask About Me.”
Asake’s catchy song, Lonely at the Top won Song of the Year
while Tems maintained her dominance with Burning, which won Best Recording of the Year.
The duet Egwu between Chike and late Mohbad also garnered attention, taking home the Viewers’ Choice Award and Best duet.
