President Donald J. Trump announced the successful conclusion of a 90-minute phone call with Chinese President Xi Jinping, centered on the recently negotiated U.S.China Trade Deal. According to Trump, the conversation was “very positive” and yielded significant progress for both nations particularly in resolving complexities related to rare earth materials.
“The call went extremely well,” President Trump said. “We reached a strong understanding. There should no longer be any questions about rare earth products. The deal is in motion, and both sides are pleased.”
Rare earths critical components in defense, electronics, and clean energy industries have long been a contentious issue in trade talks between Washington and Beijing. Trump confirmed that the matter has now been clarified, paving the way for smooth implementation of the broader trade agreement.
Top-level U.S. officials are set to meet with their Chinese counterparts in the near future, with the location to be determined. The American delegation will include Secretary of the Treasury Scott Bessent, Secretary of Commerce Howard Lutnick, and U.S. Trade Representative Ambassador Jamieson Greer.
During the call, President Xi extended a formal invitation to President Trump and the First Lady to visit China an offer Trump graciously accepted. “As Presidents of two great nations, we both look forward to making these visits a reality,” Trump said.
The conversation, he emphasized, was focused strictly on trade. “There was no discussion regarding Russia, Ukraine, or Iran,” he stated.
The Trump office confirmed that details regarding the upcoming diplomatic meetings will be shared with the media as soon as scheduling and venue logistics are finalized.
