Honourable Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Wale Edun, convened with Guangzhe Chen, the World Bank’s Vice President for Infrastructure, to tackle critical reforms aimed at enhancing the nation’s electricity access. The discussion, held yesterday, was centered on overcoming persistent challenges and expediting efforts to improve power supply nationwide.
Minister Edun underscored President Tinubu’s dedication to the Mission 300 initiative—a collaborative effort with the World Bank and the African Development Bank to deliver electricity to 300 million people across Africa by 2030.
The meeting underscored the urgent need for reforms designed to boost efficiency, broaden access, and promote sustainable energy solutions to meet the demands of Nigeria’s expanding population.
Key attendees included Ndiame Diop,World Bank Country Director for Nigeria;Franz Drees-Gross, Director of Infrastructure for West Africa; Taimur Samad, Operations Manager at the World Bank; and representatives from the Office of the Special Adviser on Energy to the President.
