In the 2024 CFA Society Nigeria Universities Challenge, the University of Lagos (UNILAG), Akoka, has taken first place and emerged as the overall victor among Nigerian universities. UNILAG won the prized trophy after defeating 27 other institutions.
Oluokun Shehu, Anthony Chukwudi, Zainab Oladipo, and Idongesit Daniel were on the UNILAG winning team. Their exceptional presentation was deemed the finest of the eight universities that advanced to the grand finals, which was recently held in Lagos.
The ceremony concluded with the announcement of Covenant University as the second runner-up and Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU) as the first runner-up.
Apart from the team honors, Covenant University’s Isaac Ojugbana received the First Bank CEO Award for being the competition’s best speaker. This was a well-earned accolade for his exceptional performance.
A group of top organizations’ industry specialists judged the event. Among the judges were Sulaiman Ishola, a senior manager of financial advising at Deloitte & Touche Nigeria; Abiola Hammed, the head of the capital advisory team at AVA Capital Partners; and Funaya Peters, a senior associate in deal advisory at PwC.
Hakeem Muhammed, the divisional head of global markets, prestige, and international banking at FSDH Merchant Bank; Adeola Gbadebo, a relationship manager for oil & gas upstream in corporate and investment banking at Access Bank Plc; Oluropo Okunmuyide, head of litigation and dispute resolution at First Bank of Nigeria Limited; and Ayokunle Olubunmi, head of financial institutions ratings at Augusto & Co. were also on the panel.
This outstanding panel of judges contributed their knowledge to guarantee an impartial and perceptive assessment of the competitors’ performances.
