The Federal Government has assured Nigerians that the National Identification Number (NIN) enrollment and related activities are proceeding smoothly across the country, as the September 14, 2024, deadline for NIN-SIM linkage approaches.
In a statement released on Thursday, the National Identity Management Commission (NIMC) confirmed that its over 10,000 enrollment centers nationwide, including those in the diaspora, are fully operational.
“Nigerians and legal residents can visit any of the centers to enroll and be issued the NIN,” said NIMC spokesman Kayode Adegoke.
For those needing to modify their NIN data, Adegoke mentioned that changes can be made through the NIMC Self-Service portal at http://self-servicemodification.nimc.gov.ng/. He also encouraged NIN holders and applicants to seek assistance with any NIN-related inquiries, including enrollment centers and data modifications, by visiting the commission’s official website, www.nimc.gov.ng.
In addition to addressing enrollment, the NIMC reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining ethical standards. The commission mentioned its “zero tolerance for all forms of extortion and unethical practices,” reiterating that NIN enrollment is free of charge. Any reports of extortion or misconduct can be directed to [email protected] or by calling 0700-2255-646.
With the deadline fast approaching, the government remains focused on ensuring that all citizens have the opportunity to link their NINs to their SIM cards.
