President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has announced the dissolution of the Ministry of Niger Delta Affairs and the Ministry of Sports Development. This decision was made during today’s meeting of the Federal Executive Council (FEC) in Abuja.
To enhance regional oversight, a new Ministry of Regional Development will be established. This ministry will supervise the various regional development commissions, including the Niger Delta Development Commission, North West Development Commission, South West Development Commission, and North East Development Commission.
Additionally, the functions of the Ministry of Sports Development will be absorbed by the National Sports Commission, streamlining the management of sports affairs in the country.
Also, The FEC has approved the merger of the Ministry of Tourism with the Ministry of Culture and Creative Economy, aimed at fostering a more cohesive approach to cultural and tourism initiatives.
These changes reflect the administration’s commitment to optimizing governmental structures and enhancing regional development across Nigeria. Further details on the implementation of these decisions will be communicated in due course.
