The Federal Government has successfully resolved a 20-year legal battle with Bi-Courtney Aviation Services Limited. This historic settlement marks the end of a long-standing disagreement over the operations of the Murtala Muhammed Airport Terminal Two in Lagos. Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, confirmed the resolution after years of industrial tension. As part of the new agreement, Bi-Courtney has received official approval to begin regional flight operations from its terminal.
This move is a major win for private sector participation in Nigeria’s infrastructure. By allowing regional flights to move to MM2, the government is making better use of existing world-class facilities. Travellers can now expect a more seamless experience when flying within the West African sub-region. The relocation also helps to reduce the heavy traffic and congestion at the international wing of the Lagos airport.
Solving this dispute sends a strong message to international investors. It shows that Nigeria is committed to honouring contracts and supporting public-private partnerships. This stability is essential for the growth of the aviation industry and the national economy. With Bi-Courtney now operating regional routes, Nigeria is strengthening its position as a key logistics hub for the entire continent.
