We all know what time it is: it’s the weekend, and it calls for shayo! Vibes after vibes! After a demanding week, there’s always a good excuse to pop some bottles, whether you’re spending the evening with your babe/boo, connecting with friends, or spending time with family. Even though the shayo tonight might be delicious, if you don’t manage things well, tomorrow morning’s hangover could be terrible. To avoid the morning-after wahala, consider these dos and don’ts before going all out with the drinks.
Dos:
1. Eat well before shayo
Avoid downing drinks right before eating. You don’t want to be the person who gives up after the first round, I promise. To balance the alcohol in your system, reach for something substantial like rice, yam, or swallow.
2. Remain hydrated.
Ensure that you are consuming water in between shots and cocktails. Alcohol dehydrates the body, which is one of the main causes of severe hangovers. Thus, always have a bottle of water on hand and switch between that and drinks.
3. Take a nap.
Try to get a decent night’s sleep after all the partying. After all the enjoyment, your body needs to relax. A restful night’s sleep can lessen how bad of a hangover feels.
Donts:
1. Avoid combining drinks.
Drink only one kind of beverage. Don’t finish with spirits or cocktails if you started with beer first. Combining different kinds of alcohol can quickly make the hangover worse the next day.
2. Avoid heavy meals late at night.
After a night of partying, resist the urge to eat heavy food and instead eat light. Eating large meals right before you crash can upset your stomach and make your hangover even worse.
3. Don’t believe in the myth of “the morning after” drink
Some swear that they can “cure” their hangover by having a little drink first thing in the morning. Avoid falling for it, as it will only cause the hangover to worsen later.
Always remember to party responsibly and take care of your body as we prepare for the weekend. No regrets need to accompany the fun! Parte after Parte.
