The Federal Government recently initiated a selection process to appoint new permanent secretaries for vacant positions in eight states. This process was launched by the Office of the Head of Civil Service of the Federation (OHCSF) in October.
A memo issued by Dr. Emmanuel Meribole, on behalf of the examination committee, revealed that 19 out of the 38 directors who took the qualifying exam for the permanent secretary roles have failed. The exam was conducted on Monday, November 11, 2024, and the results were made public on Tuesday.
Eno Olotu, the Director of Press at OHCSF, provided an update on the ongoing selection process, noting that while 19 candidates did not pass, the remaining 19 directors successfully cleared the first stage. These successful candidates will proceed to the next phase of the assessment, which will test their proficiency in Information and Communication Technology (ICT) for government operations. This second-stage examination is scheduled for Wednesday, November 13, 2024.
Olotu further emphasized that the recruitment process follows a comprehensive, three-stage evaluation to ensure only the most qualified individuals are selected for these critical roles.
