Due to planned repair on two transformers by the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN), residents of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) should expect a seven-hour power outage this weekend.
The blackout will take place on Saturday, February 22, and Sunday, February 23, 2025, from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm daily, according to a formal announcement released by TCN’s General Manager of Public Affairs, Ndidi Mbah. The transformers require yearly preventive maintenance, which TCN believes is essential to guaranteeing a steady supply of electricity in the future, which is why the planned power outage is required.
The transformers’ performance will be improved, and the likelihood of unplanned power outages would be decreased, Mbah added.
It is recommended that impacted residents prepare appropriately and make the required preparations in order to reduce the annoyance during the blackout time. Stocking up on necessary supplies, establishing alternate power sources, and charging electronic gadgets are all included in this.
Although residents may experience some short-term inconvenience, TCN reassures them that the scheduled outage is a proactive step to enhance Abuja’s overall power supply. The business emphasized that the repair is being done for the community’s overall benefit and asked for patience and understanding.
Residents are asked to keep informed and modify their schedules in order to prevent any interruptions as the weekend draws near. Despite the inconvenience, this planned power outage is a part of TCN’s efforts to improve the FCT’s electrical stability.
