Dangote Petroleum Refinery & Petrochemicals has announced a refund initiative for customers who purchased Premium Motor Spirit (PMS), commonly known as petrol, at rates higher than the advertised prices from its partner filling stations across Nigeria.
Price Reduction and Refund Details
Effective February 27, 2025, Dangote Refinery reduced its ex-depot price from ₦890 to ₦825 per liter. To ensure that this reduction benefits consumers promptly, the refinery has committed to refunding ₦65 per liter on over 200,000 metric tonnes of PMS purchased by marketers at the previous rate of ₦890 per liter. This initiative aims to prevent any losses for business partners due to the price change and to ensure that the new, lower rate takes immediate effect nationwide for the benefit of the Nigerian people.
Approved Retail Prices and Partner Outlets
To maintain uniformity and prevent exploitation, Dangote Refinery has set approved retail prices for its key distribution partners:
MRS Holdings
– ₦860 per liter in Lagos
– ₦870 per liter in the South-West
– ₦880 per liter in the North
– ₦890 per liter in the South-South and South-East
AP (Ardova Plc) and Heyden
– ₦865 per liter in Lagos
– ₦875 per liter in the South-West
– ₦885 per liter in the North
– ₦895 per liter in the South-South and South-East
These rates are structured to ensure that no Nigerian should pay more than ₦900 per liter, regardless of location.
Refund Process for Overcharged Customers
Consumers who purchase fuel above the advertised rates at any of the key partner outlets AP (Ardova Plc), Heyden, or MRS are encouraged to report such instances to Dangote Refinery with their receipts for a full refund of the excess amount. This measure is designed to deter excessive profiteering and ensure that the benefits of the price reduction reach the end-users.
