Public sector leaders, policymakers, and stakeholders from across Africa will gather at the Gaborone International Convention Centre (GICC) from October 2nd to 4th, 2024, for the 5th edition of the Africa Public Sector Conference & Awards (APSCA). Themed “Promoting Innovation for Sustainable Development,” this year’s event will focus on driving new strategies for sustainable development across the continent.
The Africa Sustainable Development report highlights the urgent need to accelerate efforts to meet global goals by 2030. While various stakeholders, including civil society and the private sector, are crucial in this effort, the public sector’s role is particularly significant in laying the foundations for sustainable growth and engaging communities in policy-making.
APSCA 2024 will serve as a premier platform for civil servants, public sector leaders, industry experts, and government officials to explore innovative ideas and practices supporting the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
Key topics will include public service innovation, environmental sustainability, digital technologies, local governance, and the role of women in public service. Leading private sector companies will also participate, sharing insights into how their innovations are transforming the public sector.
The event will conclude with an awards ceremony recognizing top-performing leaders, agencies, ministries, governors, mayors, civil servants, and private organizations for their excellence in innovation and leadership.
Mr. Akin Naphtal, Group Publisher of Public Sector Global Magazine, emphasized the importance of these accolades in setting high standards for public officials across the continent.
Endorsed by the Public Service Commission Ghana, APSCA has become a key event for driving thought leadership, innovation, and development in Africa’s public sector since its inception in Rwanda in 2018. This year’s edition in Botswana continues the tradition of facilitating critical discussions on Africa’s sustainable future.
