The Sultan of Sokoto and President-General of the Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs (NSCIA), Alhaji Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar, has officially announced the sighting of the new moon of Shawwal 1446AH, marking the end of Ramadan.
With the sighting of the moon, Muslims across Nigeria and beyond will celebrate Eid-ul-Fitr on Sunday. The Sultan’s announcement follows reports from moon sighting committees and Islamic scholars, confirming that the crescent was visible, signifying the conclusion of the holy month of fasting and prayers.
Eid-ul-Fitr, also known as the “Festival of Breaking the Fast,” is a significant occasion in the Islamic calendar, marking a time of thanksgiving, communal prayers, and celebrations among Muslims worldwide. The Sultan extended his congratulations to the Muslim ummah, urging them to embrace the spirit of unity, peace, and generosity that the festival represents.
He also encouraged the faithful to continue in the acts of kindness, devotion, and charity that characterized the month of Ramadan, emphasizing the importance of fostering harmony within the society.
