The 31-year-old former Championship football player Oluwasanmi Odelusi was convicted of raping a 27-year-old American lady in a London Airbnb while she was unconscious. His previously bright future has been ruined by the terrible case.
Court documents state that the victim was staying in an Airbnb in Shoreditch with companions after visiting London for Thanksgiving in November 2021. At the Reign nightclub in Piccadilly, she had a chance to meet Odelusi and his friend, Ryan Sellers one evening. The gang went back to the Airbnb where the crime was committed after drinking too much.
Odelusi was initially denied entry to the victim’s room, according to the prosecution. Her companion and he then engaged in consensual sex before she urged him to stop. He went into the victim’s room a short while later and attacked her while she was sleeping.
Odelusi was found guilty on a ten-to-two majority finding by a jury after DNA evidence verified his involvement. The former striker, who has played for Coventry City, MK Dons, and Bolton Wanderers, is currently free on conditional bail before sentencing in May.
