The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Administration has revoked land allocations in Abuja, including properties linked to former President Muhammadu Buhari, House of Representatives Speaker Tajudeen Abbas, and Secretary to the Government of the Federation George Akume.
A total of 759 individuals and organizations in the Maitama II district were affected by the decision, which stemmed from non-payment of Certificate of Occupancy fees. The announcement was confirmed in a statement released by Lere Olayinka, Special Adviser to the FCT Minister.
In a related development, the minister issued a fresh warning to several other landowners, including Minority Leader of the House of Representatives Kingsley Chinda, former Senate Presidents Iyorchia Ayu and Ameh Ebute, Senate Chief Whip Tahir Monguno, and 610 others. They were given a two-week deadline to settle outstanding fees or face similar consequences.
The action follows repeated appeals by the minister for residents, particularly those in high-value areas of Abuja, to clear their debts or risk losing their land.
