The Federal Government has officially declared Monday, September 16, 2024, as a public holiday in celebration of Eid-ul-Mawlid, which commemorates the birth of the Holy Prophet Muhammad (PBUH).
The announcement was made by the Minister of Interior, Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, through a statement from the ministry’s Permanent Secretary, Dr. Magdalene Ajani.
In his message, Dr. Tunji-Ojo extended congratulations to the Muslim community and encouraged them to use this period for prayers for lasting peace and national prosperity. He also called on Muslims and all Nigerians to embrace the values of patience, sacrifice, and resilience.
