This year’s Eid-el-Fitr festival is being celebrated with public holidays on Monday, March 31, and Tuesday, April 1, 2025, according to the Federal Government.
The declaration was made on Wednesday, March 26 by Magdalene Ajani, the permanent secretary of the ministry, in a statement released by Interior Minister Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo.
Tunji-Ojo urged Muslims nationwide to keep up the principles of sacrifice, love, and peace that the holy month stands for while congratulating them on successfully completing the Ramadan fast.
Known as the “Festival of Breaking the Fast,” Eid-el-Fitr signifies the conclusion of Ramadan, a month-long time for Muslims around the world to fast, pray, and reflect. Traditionally, the festival is observed with charitable deeds, feasting, and prayers.
Muslims around Nigeria will be able to celebrate the holidays without being interrupted by work or school thanks to the public vacations. But the administration also asked people to take the time to pray for the peace and prosperity of the country.
The public has been reassured by security services that sufficient precautions will be taken to guarantee a peaceful celebration as Nigerians prepare for the festivities.
