The Thai couple who broke the Guinness World Record for the longest kiss, Ekkachai and Laksana Tiranarat, have declared their separation. After breaking their 2011 record of 46 hours and 24 minutes, the couple grabbed news in 2013 when they locked lips for an amazing 58 hours and 35 minutes.
They had to stay awake, keep their lips together at all times, and even stay connected during bathroom breaks during their marathon kiss, which happened during a Valentine’s Day event in Thailand. Their dedication paid off, as they established a record that remains in place to this day. However, Ekkachai recently disclosed that they have subsequently split up in an interview with the BBC Sounds podcast “Witness History.”
“We spent a long time together, and I’m trying to remember the good memories and that we did this together,” Ekkachai remarked as she thought back on their time spent together. He was proud of their accomplishment and their special position in world record history, despite the split.
Because of the couple’s incredible achievement, the longest kiss category was subsequently removed by Guinness World Records due to safety concerns, guaranteeing that their record will never be surpassed. Couples all throughout the world were inspired by their narrative, which became a symbol of love and perseverance.
Social media users have responded to the news of their breakup with both regret and praise for their unprecedented commitment.
