Dangote Industries Limited (DIL) has issued a fresh warning to truck operators across Nigeria over the unauthorized use of its logo and brand identity on their vehicles. The conglomerate expressed deep concern that the indiscriminate display of its trademark has caused serious embarrassment to the company and misled members of the public.
In a statement released on Friday, DIL emphasized that many trucks currently carrying the Dangote logo do not belong to the company, its subsidiaries, or registered contractors. Instead, they are privately owned trucks falsely branded with the company’s identity, creating confusion and reputational risks.
Embarrassment to the Dangote Brand
According to the management of Dangote Industries, the unauthorized practice has subjected the company to unwarranted scrutiny, especially when such vehicles are involved in accidents, traffic violations, or illegal activities. The company lamented that unsuspecting Nigerians often attribute these incidents to Dangote, thereby damaging its hard-earned reputation.
The conglomerate noted that its brand is globally recognized for integrity, reliability, and innovation, stressing that it will not tolerate any misuse of its corporate identity. “This unlawful act has brought serious embarrassment to our organization, and we urge all parties involved to desist immediately,” the company warned.
Strict Enforcement Measures
DIL further disclosed that it is working closely with relevant law enforcement agencies to track down offenders and curb the trend. The company also hinted at possible legal action against individuals or groups found guilty of misrepresenting its brand.
Truck operators have now been advised to remove all unauthorized Dangote logos or risk seizure of their vehicles, prosecution, and permanent blacklisting from the company’s supply chain network.
Protecting Nigeria’s Biggest Brand
The warning comes at a time when brand protection has become increasingly important in Nigeria’s business landscape. Industry analysts note that the Dangote logo is one of the most recognizable corporate identities in Africa, making it a prime target for misuse.
Stakeholders say the move by DIL will help restore public confidence and ensure accountability in the logistics and transport sector. The company reaffirmed its commitment to safeguarding its image while continuing to deliver on its promise of driving industrial growth in Nigeria and across The continent
