The Nigerian government has announced the addition of 90,000 Nigerians to the third cohort of its 3 Million Technical Talent (3MTT) initiative, a program designed to build a robust digital workforce for Nigeria’s economy. Dr. Bosun Tijani, Minister of Communications, Innovation, and Digital Economy, made the announcement on Tuesday, inviting more Nigerians to apply to the ongoing program.
“I am pleased to announce that Cohort 3 of @3MTTNigeria is now live,” Tijani shared on X. “For those in our 3MTT Community who have been patiently waiting, please visit your dashboard to take the foundational learning courses and assessment.”
The 3MTT initiative, part of Nigeria’s Renewed Hope agenda, aims to position Nigeria as a leading exporter of technical talent. The program’s phased approach has already seen the enrollment of 30,000 students in the first cohort and 270,000 in the second. The addition of 90,000 Nigerians brings the total participation to 390,000, representing 13% of the 3 million target.
Students in the 3MTT program are trained in high-demand tech skills, including digital marketing, project management software, data analysis, cloud navigation, SEO, CRM management, and UX/UI design. These skills cater to both tech and non-tech roles, ensuring participants gain versatile capabilities for the digital economy.
The program framework supports ongoing job placements and practical learning. Many first-cohort fellows have begun internships and are participating in hackathons within their states to apply and showcase their skills.
